Raspberry Pi VGA adapter board. The board plugs into the Raspberry Pi 40-pin header and converts GPIO video signals into analog VGA using resistor DAC networks.

Raspberry Pi Interface

The board connects to the Raspberry Pi GPIO header and uses GPIO signals labelled RED2 through RED7, GREEN2 through GREEN7 and BLUE2 through BLUE7. Separate GPIO lines provide HSYNC and VSYNC. P3V3, P5V and GND are present from the header, but the video conversion itself is passive.

VGA Output

The RGB channels are generated by weighted resistor networks. The schematic groups the output nets as RED, GREEN and BLUE before they reach the VGA connector. HSYNC, VSYNC and GND are routed directly to the connector pins required by a standard VGA display.

Use

This board is intended for Raspberry Pi configurations that enable DPI/GPIO video output. It does not contain active video conversion logic; the Raspberry Pi must generate the timing and pixel data directly on its GPIO pins.
